SBC Goes to Mexico!
An eight member team traveled to Mazahua, Mexico from the SBC headquarters in the Milwaukee, Wisconsin area, USA. A SBC conference was taught by Pastor Ted Groves March 22-25. The conference was hosted by Norberto and Lisa Cortez at the Mission Mazahua Hacienda. Norberto and Lisa have spent nearly 30 years refurbishing this beautiful old mission, which dates back to 1718. They are now involved in a holistic Gospel ministry which seeks to serve the surrounding community of individuals and churches in various ways. Their position of influence and their facility provide an excellent base for the ministry of the Gospel and the work of discipleship.
This ministry has benefited from the contribution of many short-term mission teams from many different churches which have helped remodel many of the old buildings and restore the old facilities. Local churches benefit from these facilities and the camp-like ministries that are held on the grounds. The Short –term mission team from Grace Community Church in the USA was privileged, not only to help with needed work details, but also to provide much needed practical and theological training. In addition to the SBC conference taught by Pastor Ted Groves, Dr. Ross Layne, senior pastor of Grace Community church, taught a series of sessions on expository preaching and gave several sermons as examples.
Yet another SBC Representative was appointed in Mazahua. He is Gerson Monroy. Please join us in praying for Gerson as he begins his work as a partner in the world-wide discipleship ministry of SBC. Pray that God will open doors in Mexico and give Gerson the physical and spiritual strength and wisdom to carry out this demanding ministry. Pray that God will surround him with protection from the spiritual attacks that will surely come against him. Pray also that God will raise up godly dedicated and qualified individuals who will come along side of him to assist in the enormous task that lies before him.
